The Voice of the Community,
For the Community
Nquthu Radio Station is the online community voice of Nquthu and the Umzinyathi District. We broadcast mainly in isiZulu, celebrating local music, news and faith. We exist to inform, educate, entertain and empower the people we call home.
Built in Nquthu, for Nquthu
Nquthu Radio Station was founded by Mlungisi Mkhwanazi to give the people of Nquthu something the town had long gone without — a station of their own. For a rural community in the Umzinyathi District, mainstream radio rarely tells local stories, plays local artists or speaks in the language of home.
As an online station, Nquthu Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day over the internet, reaching listeners wherever they are. From the studio on Bakery Road, we carry the sound, news and spirit of the community — proudly isiZulu, proudly local, and always usekhaya: at home.

Inform, educate, entertain — empower
Our mission is to inform, educate and entertain the people of Nquthu and the Umzinyathi District. We give the community a trusted platform for local news and conversation, a stage for local and traditional music, and a voice that reflects who we are.
Above all, we exist to empower young people — building skills, sharing opportunity and keeping our community connected, informed and proud of its heritage.
Where we are heading

Made for our community
Our primary audience is 16–35 years old, with a strong secondary audience of 35–55 — the working adults and elders who listen through the day.

The youth listener
16–35 · streaming on the go, tuned in for music, requests and what’s happening.

The working adult
Listening at work and on the move, for news, current affairs and familiar music.

The elder
At home through the day, for gospel, tradition and the comfort of the mother tongue.
Proudly isiZulu, proudly local
We broadcast mostly in isiZulu, with English where it helps us reach everyone. Language is heritage — speaking the mother tongue on air keeps our culture alive and makes every listener feel at home.
One studio, listeners everywhere
We serve Nquthu and the wider Umzinyathi District — and because we stream online, anyone with an internet connection can listen from anywhere in the world.
Our broadcast runs on the Radio King streaming platform from a compact, modern studio on Bakery Road, keeping the signal reliable and the sound clean, day and night.

On the ground, not just on air
